Necrodemic
Project Description:
As the Lead Game Designer and Product Owner for “Necrodemic,” I spearheaded the development of an exhilarating wave-based zombie action-adventure game tailored for both PC and mobile platforms. This project encompassed a wide array of innovative features and gameplay elements:
Dynamic Wave Survival: “Necrodemic” offered players an intense wave survival experience where the goal was to fend off hordes of zombies for as long as possible. The inclusion of a leaderboard system encouraged competition, and players strived to earn rewards like cash, NFTs, and priority passes for future events, enhancing the game’s replayability and engagement.
Procedurally Generated Maps: To maximize replayability, we designed the game’s maps to be completely procedurally generated with each playthrough. This approach kept the gameplay fresh and unpredictable, ensuring that no two sessions were the same.
Escape Portals and Reward Structure: Within the maps, we strategically placed escape portals to provide players with an option to flee from overwhelming situations. Additionally, we introduced an advanced shop room as a reward for reaching specific milestones, allowing players to level up their perks and improve their chances of survival.
Unique Zombie Abilities: Each zombie enemy featured unique skills that could enhance the abilities of other zombies, adding depth to the strategic layer of gameplay. This complexity challenged players to think strategically about the order in which they tackled zombie hordes.
Random Elements: We injected excitement into the game by introducing random elements, such as loot goblin spawning and score multipliers. These elements provided players with opportunities to maximize their score gains and added an element of surprise to each playthrough.
Multiplayer and Customization: “Necrodemic” was designed with 4-player cooperative multiplayer in mind, allowing players to team up and face the zombie onslaught together. We also implemented a fully customizable wardrobe system to allow each character’s appearance to be unique, enhancing the player experience.
Character Progression: The inclusion of a character leveling progression system contributed to player retention within the gaming ecosystem. This system motivated players to continue playing, improving their characters, and aiming for higher scores on the leaderboard.
Role:
Throughout the development of "Necrodemic," my role as the Lead Game Designer involved meticulous coordination with the development team to ensure that all these innovative features were seamlessly integrated into the game. The intent was to create an immersive, competitive, and rewarding experience for players across PC and mobile platforms.
